Plot sizes on offer

We have plots to suit every level of experience and the time you can commit. Most people start small and expand later — or stick with what works.

Full plot

Around 250 square metres. Plenty of room for a serious growing operation — vegetables, fruit trees, soft fruit and flowers. Suits experienced growers or those working together as a family.

Half plot

Around 125 square metres. Room to grow a mixed vegetable garden with space left to breathe. A good middle ground for most plot holders — enough to feel worthwhile, not overwhelming to maintain.

Quarter plot

Around 60 square metres. Perfect for first-timers, those with limited time, or anyone wanting to test the waters before going bigger. Enough to grow salads, herbs and a few favourites.

We're not always able to offer a plot straight away, but we don't turn anyone down. Here's how the process works.

Register your interest

Register your interest using the contact form. Tell us which size plot appeals to you and answer a few questions about your experience and what you'd like to grow.

You're added to the list

You're added to the list in the order we hear from you. We keep in touch and let you know how things stand.

When a plot becomes free

When a plot becomes free , we work through the list. Priority sometimes goes to local residents, but we keep it fair and transparent.

You'll be offered a plot

You'll be offered a plot and given all the details you need — rent, tenancy terms, site rules and what to expect in your first season.

What you need to know

Tenancy basics

Plots are rented on a straightforward annual tenancy, renewed each year in spring. Here's what that means in practice.

Annual renewal

Your tenancy runs for a year and renews each spring. The committee will tell you the rent for the coming season well in advance. Changes are rare and always discussed with members first.

What the rent covers

Your annual fee keeps the site running: water, maintenance of shared paths and facilities, insurance, and the admin that keeps everything ticking over. It's money well spent.

Keeping your plot

We ask that you keep your plot reasonably cultivated — that means planted and weeded, not necessarily perfect. A plot left to run wild and wild isn't fair on your neighbours or the site.

Full fee schedules and the complete tenancy terms are shared with you when a plot is offered. There are no surprises — just clear expectations from the start.

Facilities on site

Water

Standpipe water points dotted around the site. Hosepipes are your own, but the water is included in your tenancy fee.

Tool shed

A communal store where members can borrow and share tools. Spades, forks, shears and rakes — no need to own everything yourself.

Compost bays

Shared composting space for garden waste. Feed your soil and close the loop — it's how good gardeners think.

Clubhouse

A small building used for committee meetings and our Annual Show — where we celebrate the season's best and swap seed stories over tea and cake.
